Oh, the Places...

Many, many years ago I sat in a fourth grade classroom listening to Greek mythology from the most amazing teacher, Mrs. Templeton. I was fascinated by her stories, mesmerized by her tone, and inspired by her example. I don't remember the spelling lessons or the math problems, but I'm sure there were plenty. She taught me to be creative. She taught me that there were no limits other than the ones I set for myself. She taught me that anything was possible.

I never thought in a million years I would get the opportunity to sit in her living room, all grown up, and thank her. But today I did just that.

It's been no secret that I've given the credit of inspiration to her all these years. I was interviewed for a newspaper article a few months ago and the topic came up once more. Naturally, I credited Mrs. Templeton as the true inspiration of my life. Her and her daughter read the paper, put two and two together, and contacted the journalist. It didn't take long for us to begin corresponding via e-mail. It did, however, take a little while for us to find time to meet face-to-face.

I was nervous, to say the least. I mean, come on...seeing your fourth grade teacher after all these years! Who does that? But her and her lovely daughter, Diane, were so welcoming, so kind. I felt at home immediately and the hours ticked away as we discussed numerous topics, all of which we found to have in common. It was like I fit right in to their family and I was honored to be there.

Mrs. Templeton is now 91 years old. That's right...91! She's still as wonderful as I remember her some thirty-five years ago. Even more so, now that I'm not a starry eyed nine year old. I can't wait for my daughter to meet her and for our lives to intertwine for years to come.

T. Michelle is at it Again!

If you're not reading T. Michelle's vampire series, you're totally missing out! I loved book one and two and now she's at it again with her latest release of book THREE! T. Michelle is on a roll and this series will not disappoint. What's better than a couple of hot vampires? Add it to your must read list today!

As a tease, this is the cover release of her newest book:

T. Michelle Nelson

Biography

T. Michelle Nelson became enamored with vampires at an early age when she watched George Hamilton in “Love at First Bite.” As she got older, her tastes leaned more toward the dark and morose, but her love of all things vampire never wavered.  Little has changed over the years, except now T.  makes up her own macabre stories of the undead… mixed with a splash of romance, tough heroines and tons of dark humor.

T. Michelle Nelson is a native of Benton, Kentucky and a graduate of Murray State University.  Currently she resides in a small town in Ohio, which is also the setting of her Lily Drake series.  The first two books in the series, Life and Death of Lily Drake and 'Til Death Do Us Part, are currently available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon or any of your other favorite online bookstores. A short story prequel The First Time is also available. Death Warmed Over, the third and final book of the series will release in late June.

When she isn't writing, you can usually find her spending time with her son, singing out of key, watching B-Horror movies or discussing world problems with her little dog, Toadie.

Death Warmed Over  -  Lily Drake Book Three

Synopsis:

In the conclusion of the Lily Drake series, Lily must choose not only what is best for herself and her son, but for her people.  Her sword will be stained with blood through her efforts to preserve the lives of the people she loves, but she won’t be able to save them all.

When a devastating loss crushes her will to live, can Lily go on and be the leader she has to be?  What is she willing to sacrifice to save others?

Death comes to everyone...even the Queen’s house...

What doesn't kill you will make you wish it did...

Confession of a Starry Eyed Author

It's been exactly three weeks since Hunted has been released into the world and I have a confession to make. I thought selling my book would be easy.

Go ahead and laugh...it's pretty funny. I expected to sell 150 books the first week! You see, Hunted is only available as an e-book. Once I sell 150 copies, it will be printed by the publisher. But, this has to happen by November.

I never wanted to sound over-confident, but I always expected those sales to happen rapidly. I thought Inkspell Publishing would be so proud of me for selling so many books so fast. Other than a few close friends, luckily I never bragged about selling so many in the first week...:)

The first day I sold about 26 copies and by the end of the first week sales were at 41. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited that sales are steady and the blog tour is happening soon, so that will be great for publicity. My very cool postcards just arrived, too.

So now, this starry eyed author has faced reality and learned a valuable lesson. Promoting any book isn't easy. Just like writing, it takes persistence. Hard work pays off, right? I have an awesome team of friends and former students willing to push my book on anyone with an operating device. Be ready team! Postcards are coming your way this week. Sell, sell, sell!
